HOW TO APPLY
Why partner with Kōawa Studios

As Kōawa Studios' reputation continues to grow, we aim to play a vital role alongside our industry partners in supporting the next generation of filmmakers, creative technologists, and storytellers. Together, we can build a vibrant creative community in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond. This eco-cycle allows the industry to form early connections with an invaluable pipeline of talent.

How we partner with industry

We partner with industry in various ways, including short-term and long-term co-location on-site at Kōawa Studios, commercial use of our state-of-the-art facilities, collaboration on student projects, student internships, guest lectures, and workshops. We also work closely with our partners to design mutually beneficial marketing plans to publicise and celebrate the partnership.

"Everyone there was just so kind and so patient, even though film was a very busy environment, they would always stop and have a moment to teach you something, which was amazing" - Daniel Davy UC Digital Screen Programme Student, talking about his experience as an intern on the feature film shoot of Holy Days.

Industry Partnership Case Studies

Kōawa Studios boasts some incredible industry partnerships, including Firefly Films and their international feature film Holy Days, Aardman Academy (Oscar®-winning producers of Wallace and Gromit), Stretchy Productions' Kiri and Lou Rarararara!, and the Doc Edge Film Festival.
